Terms of Service

Last updated 22 July 2026

The short version.

Nixpense is a tool for seeing your own money clearly. It does not move money, does not connect to your bank, and is not financial advice — the figures it shows are calculated from what you enter, and your lender's statement is always the authority. Use it for your own records, keep your login safe, and you can walk away with your data at any time.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Nixpense (“the app”), operated by Nixpense, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy, which forms part of them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. What Nixpense is

Nixpense reads the statements you upload, files your accounts and transactions, and calculates things from them: your net worth, what is due next, how a payment splits between interest and principal, and how long a debt takes to clear.

Just as importantly, here is what it is not:

  • It is not a bank or a payment service. Nixpense never moves, holds, sends or receives money. Marking a payment as done records that you paid it elsewhere; it does not pay anything.
  • It has no connection to your bank. We do not ask for online-banking credentials and cannot access your accounts. Everything the app knows, you gave it.
  • It is not financial, tax or legal advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation to take, refinance, consolidate or prioritise any debt. It shows you arithmetic on your own numbers. Decisions, and their consequences, are yours — talk to a licensed advisor before acting on anything significant.

3. Accuracy of the figures

Every calculation in the app is an estimate built from the values you entered and the assumptions we document on screen. Interest is computed as simple daily interest on the outstanding balance at the rate on file; real lenders vary in how they compound, when they post, how they treat a grace period, and what fees they add. Your projections are only as good as the rate, balance and minimum you typed in.

Your lender's own statement is always the authority. If Nixpense and your statement disagree, your statement is right. Never rely on the app alone to decide whether a payment has been made or how much is owed.

The statement parser is likewise imperfect. That is why it shows you a preview and asks you to correct it before anything is saved — reviewing that preview is your responsibility, not an optional step.

4. Your account

You need an account to use the app. You agree to give accurate sign-up details, to keep your password to yourself, and to tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account. Accounts are for a single person — do not share one.

You must be at least 16 years old, and legally able to enter into this agreement, to use Nixpense.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Nixpense only for managing your own finances, and specifically not to:

  • upload statements or documents belonging to anyone else without their clear permission, or any document you are not entitled to hold;
  • attempt to reach another user's data, or probe, scan or test the security of the service;
  • automate access, scrape the app, or put load on it beyond ordinary personal use, including uploading files designed to break the parser;
  • use the app for anything unlawful, or to launder, disguise or misrepresent financial activity.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data first.

Security researchers: a safe harbour.

The restriction above is aimed at attacks, not at people trying to help. If you find a security or privacy flaw in good faith, report it through Report an issue in the app footer (or email feedback@nixpense.com) and we will not pursue you for it — provided you only access your own data, don't degrade the service for anyone else, and give us a reasonable chance to fix the issue before telling the world. Security reports are looked at first, and you can expect a reply within 5 working days.

6. Your data

Your financial records remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your data, process the statements you upload, and display the results back to you. We claim no ownership of it and do not sell it.

What we keep, for how long, and how to remove it is set out in the Privacy Policy. The essential point stands here too: you can export or delete everything at any time, from your profile page, without asking us.

7. Availability and changes

Nixpense is offered free of charge and is under active development. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and the app may be unavailable for maintenance or through faults. We do not promise any level of uptime, and we are not able to guarantee that data will never be lost through technical failure — which is exactly why the export in section 6 exists. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Some features are explicitly marked as in development. Those may behave incompletely or change substantially before they settle.

8. Warranties and liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any financial loss arising from decisions you made using the app — including missed payments, interest or fees incurred, or figures that turned out to be wrong. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Ending it

You can stop using Nixpense whenever you like, and delete your account and data from your profile page. We may end or suspend your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service — in the latter case we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data first.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app develops. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be flagged in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Nixpense after that means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — without affecting any rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place you live.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms go to feedback@nixpense.com.
